Blessed!

Standard

I finally mustered up the courage to start reading about the type of cancer I had. I refused to read a lot about it at the beginnging. The only thing that I really knew about Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) was that it is common in: males, smokers, people over 65, and African Americans. Which if you know me, I don’t fit into any of those categories, seeing as I am a 23 year old female, I have never smoked in my life, and I am the whitest girl you have probably ever met. 🙂 Well, reading about my cancer, really got me upset! I knew that I was extremely blessed to now be cancer free, but I just didn’t realize how blessed. Here are some facts that I’ve read. RCC is the 5th leading cause of cancer deaths. RCC does not respond well to chemotherapy or radiation. In about 50% of RCC cases the cancer spreads to your heart. A lot of the time, there are not any symptoms, and when they finally find RCC it is too late. I finally have stopped reading because I just can’t believe how lucky that I am! I had symptoms! If I wouldn’t have had a kidney stone, I may not have gone to the doctor so quickly.  I also had blood in my urine and  had a burning pain on my back, where my kidney was.  Also, if I weren’t pregnant the doctor’s may have not rushed things to quickly. So, again, I want to say thank you to everyone for their prayers, because they really got me through this! Also, a big thank you to my WONDERFUL urologist, Dr. Figenshau, he was amazing!

Quick Update

Standard

So, I haven’t blogged in a while so I thought I would give you all an update. I am 23 weeks pregnant, and now I think you can officially tell I’m pregnant not fat. lol. I feel great, besides my back hurting, no not hurting…KILLING me. Other than that it is great. I had a great first Mother’s Day. I felt rather spoiled because I got so much stuff! Jared made me cry, which isn’t hard to do these days, but it was still great. School is over in 13 days…WHOO! I am excited for summer. 🙂  The day after school gets out, Jared, the fam, and I are heading to Texas for Jared’s cousin’s wedding. It should be a good time, I am excited. Well, I need to get some stuff done. I will try to blog again soon.
