Last weekend my dad’s cousins from Washington came down for his 50th class reunion. We got to spend some time with Lanny and Marji, and they got to meet Gabrielle. It was a very nice to see them. I can’t post any pictures of their visit, because I currently have a broken lap top (a new one is on it’s way here, hopefully soon). All the pictures I have posted lately have been stolen from other people. So, when I do get my new computer I will post some pictures of their visit. 🙂
For my non-Facebook readers (which are very few). I have an update on Gabrielle. She is 2 weeks old, and we went to the dr. today. She weighs 8lbs 11oz. She has gained 9 oz. since last week! I knew that her face was filling out, and getting a little chubby, but I didn’t know that she gained that much! The doctor is very pleased with my chubby cheek little girl, and so am I.
As you all know Gabrielle was born on Sept. 7th, Labor Day. So, here is how it all came about.
3:00 a.m.-I thought that my water broke. I wake Jared up, we get everything in the car and head to the hospital.
4:00 a.m.-I arrive at the hospital, and monitor me for about an hour. Apparently, my water did not break but I was having contractions. I was not dialated at all.
5:00 a.m.-They send me home. The nurse told me that I would know when to come back, because I would be in so much pain. And, that I could be in labor for a couple of days.
5:30 a.m.-We get home, and I try to get comfortable. But, that wasn’t happening.
9:00 a.m.- A reluctant Jared goes on his golfing outing. I told him if I was going to be in labor for a couple of days there was no sense him staying at home.
9:45 a.m.-My water broke. Seriously this time. I call Jared to come home. Then, I call my mom, and she came over quickly to help me clean up. I am having SERIOUS contractions at this point.
10:00 a.m.-Jared gets home and is trying to get me going. Everytime I would stand up I would have another contraction. So, I wanted to sit down.
10:30 a.m. -Jared finally gets me out the door.
11:00 a.m.-We arrive at the hospital. I get out and go in. Jared parks the car.
11:05 a.m.- I am VERY SLOWLY getting into my gown. (Contractions about every1-2 minutes)
11:10 a.m.-The nurses are now pretty much carrying me to the bed.
11:15 a.m.-The nurse checks me, and says that I am completely dialated. She tells someone to call my Dr., and then she tells me that she isn’t going to move her hand because this baby is coming. By this point I am completely terrified! I think I am about to have this baby without my dr. Plus, the baby had had a bowel movement while she was inside of me. So, they have to do special things when she is born, that way she doesn’t swallow or breathe it in. Also, the nurse tells Jared to go get anything he needs in the car, NOW!!! (Camera, baby book)
11:16 a.m.-My doctor is randomly making rounds at the time I come in. When I saw her, I was very relieved!!! They also try to start an IV. They weren’t successful. It was so chaotic. I now realized that this baby is going to be born completely natural. No epidural or pain medicine. (which is kind of what I wanted to do, but I always thought that pain medicine would be an option, but I was wrong)
12:17 p.m.-Beautiful Gabrielle Lynn Hartsock was born! 8lbs, 20 inches long! She was born face up instead of face down. She had a very large bruise on her head. 😦 But, the nurse told me later that if she would have been the right way, I may have had her in the car. Probably a good thing that she was face up. She is healthy, and perfect. The BM that she had didn’t affect her at all.
Now, all is right in my world. I have the most beautiful daughter in the world! Her dad and I couldn’t be more proud!
Please excuse the way I look. I did shower before I went to the hospital the first time. But, I didn’t have time or the energy the next time. 🙂
Gabrielle Lynn was born 9/7/09, Labor Day! She was 8 lbs and 20 inches long. Right now she has blue eyes, but I expect them to change to brown like her daddy’s. And, she has dark hair. She must have gotten from the Brazier side. She is doing amazing. I will update again soon, with her VERY interesting birth story!!
