Congratulations, Maynard Family!

Sweet baby, Lucy Elizabeth was born at 4:59 this morning. She is 6 lbs 8 oz and 18 inches long. I am so happy for Ashly and Will. She has a head full of redish hair, and is beautiful. I can’t wait to meet her!!

I found this video and thought it was funny. Even though I do some of the things that they are “making fun” of, it just goes to show you how some moms are so competitive. I am so sick of the judgment from other moms, and debates about this and that. I know that all moms go through it. This is just a funny video, making fun of all the debates. 🙂

*Yawn*I’m tired! Oh, the joys of motherhood. Why does teething have to be so painful for baby, and tiring for mom and dad?

Happy Birthday, Gabrielle!

Today is my sweet girl’s 1st birthday. I can hardly believe she is 1. Today I am a little emotional. One year ago today I delivered my sweet girl! I took a trip down memory lane, so I thought I would share Gabrielle’s birth story.

The night before (around 6 p.m) I started having very light contractions. When I say light, I mean I barely felt anything. But, they were consistent so I just timed them, but didn’t tell anyone (besides Jared) I was having them. I went to bed because they were so far apart. Around 1 a.m. they started to get a little stronger, and woke me up. I stood up, leaned on the bed, and swayed back and forth. I did that for a few hours. I then went to the bathroom. There I thought my water started to break. I woke Jared up and we headed to the hospital. That was about 4 a.m. At 5 a.m. they sent me home saying my water wasn’t breaking, but I was having contractions (no duh!). I also was still dialated to a whopping o! The nurse told me that I would know when to come back because I’d be in so much pain. *Side Note* That is NOT true. When you have never had a baby, and don’t know how intense contractions will get, you have NO idea!!  She also told me that I would probably be in labor for a couple of days since I wasn’t dialated at all. When I got home my contractions really started to pick up. I couldn’t sleep. It hurt to lay down or sit. This may be TMI, but I sat on the toilet because there was no pressure that way.  It really was a miracle position. In between contractions I would take a little snooze. Around  9:00 a.m. I convinced Jared to go on his already scheduled golf trip. One because, if I was going to be in labor for a couple of days he didn’t need to wait around. Another reason is because Jared is a wonderful man who would do anything for me, but I am stubborn and I don’t want to talk when I am in pain, and he would want to talk the whole time making sure I was okay. I probably would have ripped his head off. Well, as soon as Jared got on the 1st or 2nd hole, he received my call that my water had really broke this time. It was real this time, because it was all over my living room carpet. I also called my mom and she came over. She cleaned up my mess, and sat with me as I felt like I was dying. She asked me if they taught my any breathing techniques. All I knew was that breathing was not going to help the excruciating pain that I was in. Jared got home and he was trying to shove me out the door, but I was in so much pain I didn’t move very fast.  When I finally got into the car we hit the first bump and the rest of my water broke…oh joy. It was a very quiet ride to the hospital. Jared asked me if I was okay a couple of times and that was it. As we arrived at Anderson he dropped off at the door and he went and parked the car. As I walked in I was probably having contractions every minute. It was intense! A nurse walked me to my room and gave me a gown to put on. Well, I got undressed but was in so much pain I forgot to put the gown on…lol. The nurse kept telling me to hurry that she needed to check me. Apparently I didn’t move fast enough because 2 nurses came in and carried me to the bed. As I got to the bed, one of the nurses checked me just as Jared walked in. She told another nurse to call my doctor because I was completely dialated! I went from 0-10 centimeters in 6 hours.  At that point my room got crazy!  Luckily my doctor was randomly making rounds at the time I came in. I was completely relieved. But, people in my room were pulling out my chart, machines, and it was nuts. One nurse tried to give me an IV, and that didn’t work. It was completely chaotic. I pushed for an hour, and lo and behold my sweet girl was here. The nurse told me that she probably would have been born in the car if she facing down (like she should have been), instead of up. It was so neat to hear, “It’s a girl!” She was 8 pounds even, and 20 inches long. She was beautiful! I thought she looked exactly like her daddy. This year has been the best year ever. I can’t believe time has gone by so fast! Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl! I love you Gabrielle Lynn.

Today we had Gabrielle’s bday! I made this slide show for Gabrielle and the party. Since it was sunny, you really couldn’t see it. I thought I would post it on here. It is long, so if you do watch it be prepared. 🙂 We had a beautiful day for a party. Thank you to all who came!! Also, here are a couple of pictures of the birthday girl!
